Mark Twain
Mark Twain was a resident of Redding, CT. during the last years of his life and was instrumental in establishing the town library. In the front entry of his home, Stormfield, he posted a letter soliciting funds from his male visitors to help fund the community project. An excerpt of that letter is written on the background of this portrait.

This portrait of Mabel Osgood Wright was paid for by the schoolchildren of Fairfield, CT, who collected change over the course of several weeks. Ms. Wright was the founder of the Connecticut Audubon Society and the portrait accompanies a large fundraising mural at Fairfield's Audubon Center.
